As a reward for all my extra work the past four days, I took advantage of a few free hours this morning and journeyed to the Jacksonville zoo.
It was pretty good as far as zoos go. Although I think it was the fresh air and the walking around that really felt great.
New to me animals were the okapi and rhinoceros. The rhinoceros were HUGE. The picture doesn't do them justice.
One of my favorites was the great apes. I felt a bit stunned at the humanness of their postures and gestures, especially obvious in the smaller ones.
My other favorite was all of the aviaries. The wildly colored and unusual birds right up close and personal was fun.
